    Responsibilities:

    BBVA Compass seeks Sr Lead Programmer Analyst in Birmingham, AL to provide programming and technical leadership within a team of software developers performing support, maintenance, and enhancement of software for the Design and Development division to support a portion of its Deposit, and Fraud related applications.  The team will be developing software in a variety of technologies utilizing COBOL, CICS, VSAM, DB2 and proprietary languages/technologies.

     

    What you will be doing. 

    • Formulate system scope and objectives.
    • Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems using data processing, keeping in mind the capacity and limitations of the equipment, operating time and form of desired results. 
    • Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written. 
    • Design, code, test, debug and document those programs. 
    • Have full technical knowledge of all phases of application systems and analysis and programming, but also has duties of instructing, directing and checking the work of other application systems analysis/programming personnel. 
    • Provides quality assurance reviews. 
    • Act as project leader. 
    • Projects may include installation/modification/maintenance of vendor software.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Requires 5-8 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
    • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
    • Relies on leadership skills, experience, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
    • Performs a variety of tasks and regularly provides guidance and training to less experienced analyst/programmers.
    • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
    • Reports to Application Manager.
