    The BBVA Compass network team provides connectivity to thousands of employees, contractors, and vendors throughout the US. The team designs, deploys and maintains the network that connects offices ranging from large campuses with hundreds of employees, to smaller remote branch offices connected via MPLS, and everything in-between. The network connectivity and service needs of the bank are diverse, and our solutions are equally diverse, as we work to provide best-in-class enterprise connectivity and internal consulting services to a variety of projects. Our network generates a constant stream of challenges which require you to continually be innovative with an evolving set of technologies. As a lead network engineer, you will serve as one of the senior technical members of an engineering and deployment team responsible for providing network connectivity to over 13,000 employees in over 700 locations nationwide. You will collaborate with the Network Services and IT Architecture team to design solutions in the context of a multi-vendor, best-of-breed environment with a diverse and often high-demand internal customer base. You will act as a mentor and an escalation engineer for other junior team members and ensure that we deliver a quality network product to our internal customers. You will have the opportunity to partner with, and provide technical expertise to a variety of other teams beyond network services, including data security, server operations, and application development. Candidates for this position typically hold senior network engineering roles, at current employer. BBVA Compass is pursuing a Network Engineer who has an interest in emerging technologies, hands-on experience with datacenter architecture; understanding of capacity planning, a solid foundation in security, proven track record of troubleshooting, and great communication skills. A successful Network Engineer candidate will have a passion for customer service, a desire to own solutions end-to-end, and great collaborative skills.



    • Accountable for operational integrity of production and corporate network infrastructure.
    • Contribute to the planning, design, and implementation of new locations and campus expansion.
    • Work with various teams to help introduce new technologies across the organization.
    • Ensure connectivity and bandwidth for 13,000+ corporate employees.
    • Ensure accurate monitoring, logging, metrics, and alerting of network connectivity.
    • Support network issues from wireless access to transit.
    • Management of multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Document network infrastructure.
    • Participate in on-call rotation.
    • Participate in technical decisions to improve the network landscape
    • Help create and improve both existing and future alerting and monitoring systems
    • Develop and optimize processes and documentation
    • Perform network configuration changes and optimizations across a multivendor, multiprotocol environment
    • Work on performance measurement to ensure improved efficiency
    • Provide solutions based on high level requirements gathered from internal customers and partner teams.
    • Drive high level strategy for larger and/or complex deployments.
    • Collaborate with other lead network engineers in order to create and maintain best practices across the team.
    • Evaluate new Network Equipment, perform Cost Benefit analysis and make recommendations.
    • Actively review deployed technologies, performance, capacity and SLAs from a strategic point of view and makes recommendations that ultimately spawn new projects for the team.
    • Attend meetings and work with project teams.
    • Ability to manage long term, project/milestone based work with multiple teams.
    • Gather project requirements.



    • Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating a large enterprise networks. This includes experience with enterprise class firewalls, routers, VPN (IPSEC, SSL), load balancers, and switches.
    • Expert-level competence in IP routing/switching technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, IPsec, GRE, MPLS and their best-practices.
    • Solid understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols such as Telnet, SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, SMTP, FTP, NTP, and DNS.
    • Strong understanding of 802.11 a/b/g/n radio technologies.
    • Familiarity with VoIP and Video Conferencing Technologies architectures and implementations.
    • Cisco ISE configuration and maintenance
    • Proxy administration
    • UCS experience
