The BBVA Compass UX & Design team is searching for thoughtful, talented UX Design Lead to create user experiences and UI designs that are elegant, useful and intuitive for our Online Account Opening (OAO) service. - Defines and designs the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) for Online Account Opening (OAO) across all devices (mobile, tablet, desktop)
- Coordinates with product owners and internal stakeholders to define UX for digital products and services for consumer, small business and other lines-of-business
- Creates UX design documents and UI assets including graphics, wireframes, screen flows, sitemaps, design concepts, mockups and prototypes to fulfill business requirements
- Creates and upholds the user experience and design quality of OAO through their own work and management of internal and external design resources
- Maintains corporate brand guidelines. Creates visual and interactive standards and style guides for the company’s digital products and services.
- Coordinates with Digital Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Channel Development, Engineering and other lines-of-business in executing designs



  • Designs and develops user experience, interaction design and user interfaces using a variety of software applications and development techniques
  • Collaborates and coordinates with internal clients and stakeholders to ensure that solutions are well designed, technically feasible and meet business needs
  • Ability to understand and develop expertise in particular digital channels (online, mobile, tablet, ATM, etc.)
  • Creates or directs the creation of graphics, icons, animations and other visual assets for UI development
  • Oversees the design quality of UI code (HTML5, CSS3, Javascript)
  • Management of multiple projects (from routine requests to major initiatives)
  • As a Design Lead, this role is responsible for team management, resource allocation and overall design quality for their team and the Online Account Opening service


  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, web design, UX or equivalent experience
  • Strong portfolio of web, mobile or other digital design work is expected.
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles, layout, typography, color and branding is required.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and other Adobe Creative Suite tools.
  • Proficiency with other UX/UI software tools (Sketch, InVision, Adobe XD, Axure or other UI design or prototyping tools) is a preferred.
  • Understanding of user experience (UX) disciplines including user interface (UI) design, information architecture (IA) and content strategy is expected.

  • Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and current web design standards is required but this position does not require development of code
  • Experience with online sales conversion, A/B and multivariate testing and/or retail or financial services is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with managing other designers, freelancers, external agencies or other design resources is a plus.
  • Experience with responsive design techniques, the Bootstrap framework, mobile web or mobile application development is a plus.
  • Good general writing and proofreading skills are required.  
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) is required.
  • Experience with JavaScript, AJAX, JQuery or other scripting frameworks or techniques is a plus.
