Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

 The key responsibilities of the Credit Products Officer (CPO) revolve around the underwriting and ongoing periodic monitoring of credits to companies within the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) line of business. Their main objective is to ensure that the credit risk assumed by the Bank complies with BBVA Compass Credit Policies and Procedures which govern the Bank’s risk appetite.

 

The CPO is expected to perform the activities detailed below in addition to any other sector/portfolio analysis requests made by senior management.  

  1. Complete due diligence
  2. Conduct financial modeling (projections for term debt and transactions)
  3. Underwrite credit (new / renewals / modifications)
  4. Participate in the credit approval process.
  5. Negotiate credit (with Client Manager involved as needed)
  6. Reviewing closing documents and ensuring proper booking of transactions
  7. Monitor financial statements, borrowing base, covenant compliance, exception management overdrafts and ACH approvals
  8. Contribute to client planning sessions
  9. Work with Client Managers on capital structure idea pitches to clients and prospects
  10. Coordinate with the Client Manager to perform relationship reviews to determine appropriateness and competitiveness of credit package
  11. Monitor industry trends in their assigned portfolio
  12. Travel as necessary to attend meetings with clients and prospects

 

Candidates must possess superior verbal, written, and organizational skills. Individuals must be able to prioritize tasks demonstrating both management skills and ability to achieve communicated deadlines. High integrity and respect for confidentiality are invaluable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and understanding of financial statements.  

Qualifications

Qualifications:

CPO I: Bachelor’s degree in business related field business with emphasis in management, accounting, finance, or a related field. Candidates must have 18 to 36 months of previous underwriting or credit analysis experience. Formal credit or commercial loan training is a plus. MBA will be viewed favorably.   

 

CPO II: Bachelor’s degree in business related field business with emphasis in management, accounting, finance, or a related field. Candidates must have 36 months plus years of previous underwriting or credit analysis experience. Formal credit or commercial loan training is a plus. MBA will be viewed favorably.
